- Why did I receive a property tax statement? Property tax statements are mailed to the home owner as of Jan.1
- My mortgage pays my taxes. If taxes are paid by your mortgage company, contact them regarding payment of your bill.
- I sold my home why did I receive a bill? Bills are mailed to the January 1 owner. A tax lien will be filed on the Jan. 1 owner unless a settlement statement is provided to our office within 90 days of the due date in accordance with GA Code 48-3-3. Settlements (a copy) can be placed in the return envelope that came with the bill or in person and by mail to 140 Henry Parkway McDonough GA 30253.
- How much were my property taxes last year? That information can be found at Property Tax Search or Pay.
- Why am I paying for streetlight, stormwater and sanitation? Please call the respective number on front of bill concerning the fees.
- Why am I paying for County Water when I have a well? County Water is collected for the county's infrastructure. Please call the Water Authority for further information at 770-957-6659.
- I need to change my mailing address. Please contact the Tax Assessors office.
- Who do I make the check out to? Checks are payable to Henry County Tax Commissioner.
- How do I file homestead? You may file homestead directly on online or you may bring in a completed application with all required documents to our offices either in Stockbridge or McDonough
- How do I pay my taxes online? That information can be found at Property Tax Search or Pay.
- How do I file for Homestead Exemption? An exemption can be applied on only 1 (one) homesteaded property, which means the applicant(s) must own, occupy, and claim the property as their legal residence on January 1 of the year for which application is made. A married couple is allowed Homestead exemption on only 1 (one) residence. Complete application with all required documentation and apply in person, drop box located at both locations or mail to (faxed or emailed copy not accepted).
