What if my vehicle does not pass emissions?

We recommend having your vehicle inspected four to six weeks prior to your registration renewal date to allow for any needed repairs. If it is your renewal date and your vehicle has failed the emissions test, a repair waiver may be issued if you meet all of the specified qualifications.

Visit the Clean Air Force website for information concerning repair waivers.

You may pay the ad valorem tax before your renewal date to avoid late penalties. If you are in your renewal period and your vehicle fails the emissions test you may receive a 30-day temporary tag providing all taxes are current and the vehicle has valid insurance coverage.
